The picture below shows how all the creatures that live within the pond are reliant upon each other for growth and development. The overall structure is called a food-web,but each form of life within the pond has what is known as its own food-chain. These life forms range from the microscopic and chemical to the larger predators, each procuring its nourishment from those around.
